Christopher Malfant Executive Vice President, Head of Fixed Income
Mr. Malfant has 20 years of investment management experience. Prior to joining Capital Management in 2022, he spent 17 years at AIG Investments. Starting in 2005 he served as the head of the Derivative Operations team at AIG for two years until transitioning to the Fixed Income Quantitative Team in 2007. He transitioned to managing corporate bond portfolios in 2012, managing the AIG Property Casualty Group’s corporate bond portfolio of $8B. Mr. Malfant was promoted to Head of Investment Grade Corporate Bonds at AIG in 2016, managing a team of 17 people and a corporate bond portfolio of $80B. Chris left AIG in 2022 and joined Mutual of America as Head of Fixed Income managing a fixed income bond portfolio of $9B.
Mr. Malfant is a 1997 graduate of Duke University with a BS in Biology and BA in Environmental Science and Policy. While at Duke he was Captain of the Cross Country and Track and Field teams and was ranked 10th in the ACC in the 10,000-meter run. He was commissioned as a US Naval Officer upon graduation and served as a surface warfare officer onboard the USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) and USS Kinkaid (DD 965). After completing his sea tours, he obtained an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Mr. Malfant remains an avid runner, and volunteers as a mentor with the NYC iMentor program.
