Our story began over 75 years ago when Mutual of America Life Insurance Company was established in 1945 as the National Health & Welfare Retirement Association. The company was founded by a group of business leaders who were dedicated to supporting the retirement needs of the nonprofit sector which, at the time, was not covered by the Social Security Act of 1935.

Mutual of America Life Insurance Company pioneered access to retirement savings options for small not-for-profit health and welfare agencies and their employees, enabling employees the opportunity to build wealth over time and prepare for a secure retirement.
In 1985, Mutual of America created the first in a series of mutual funds, and in 1993, Mutual of America Capital Management was established to support a growing base of institutional clients. Today, our services have expanded to include asset allocation services, separately managed accounts, and comprehensive services to Native American organizations. Our investment products include a variety of asset classes and objectives, including equity, fixed income, international, asset allocation, and target date funds, as well as separately managed accounts and asset allocation portfolios for institutions.
